One of the most frustrating things about running social media accounts and trying to help people grow their audiences is the complete lack of reciprocation. Many people complain about how hard it is to get a larger audience but then do nothing to try to increase it. They get stuck in their little clicks of people they always interact with, don’t think about interacting with others or reciprocating all the work other people put into them.

We used to have a group back in Minnesota called Boomerang: What Comes Around, Goes Around. It was a networking group predicated on people working together to help each other grow their business and it was brilliant. It worked great because people all had the same goal. They learned about each other, met regularly and sought out opportunities to help each other out. This a major boost to people growing their business, sales etc….

When people go out of their way to help you, you should reciprocate. If you do, you will reap the benefits of it, if you chose to ignore it, then expect that help to fall away. Don’t take for granted the help people give you so you can go play with others. If you are serious about networking and growing your social media foot print, then look for like-minded people who love to share, like, re-tweet, comment and find ways to help each other out. If spend time helping people and they don’t do likewise, cut them loose. Move on to others who have a vested interest in growing with you.

There is very little time in the day to waste on things or people who don’t reciprocate. You can very easily tell people who have the time and don’t although most claim they don’t but you can see by their feeds they do, they just choose to spend it helping others. That is fine, it’s their choice, but for those really looking to grow numbers and gain followers, look to those that work their butts off to network appropriately and not just say it. Like all things, actions prove the truth. Words are just a smoke screen.

This is critical especially for newer reviewers, game publishers etc. I hope this helps you on your journey to raising awareness about your service, product or follower base! Learning techniques to improve your social media, marketing and branding are absolutely a priority if you are serious about growing what ever it is you are working on.

Learn to develop winning relationships with people who appreciate you, your content, your work ethic and you will flourish much, much quicker!
